JR Project: Blood splatter gun

Background

For a production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore I was asked to make a device to shoot artificial blood at Mairead near the end of the play when she shoots Padraic.
For all the blood effects I decided to use compressed air and it was whilst looking online I found the pump up drain cleaners that looked a cheap and viable product to supply 

Parts List

  1. Drain Blast Gun (Like CPC # TL12911 )
  2. Adaptor supplied with gun that best fits 25mm flexi conduit
  3. Metal bracket (from ajudtible shelving)
  4. 25mm female conduit adapter (like CPC # CBBR4910)
  5. 25mm male flexi conduit adapter
  6. Armoured cable clips to fit 25mm conduit (10)
  7. 25mm flexi conduit (1m length)
  8. Cable ties
  9. Block of wood (for handle)
  10. 25mm conduit (30cm length)
  11. Small foam lumps for wadding

 

Make the gun

Drill two holes for the cable ties

Fix the bracket to the top of the handle with a couple of wood screws

Fix the two armoured cable clips to the conduit barrel (leave a little extra at the back for the push fit adaptor)

Use the cable-ties to attach the barrel to the bracket

 

Make the air supply

  1. Remove the back nut from the 25mm female conduit adapter
  2. Screw the 25mm male flexi conduit adapter into the 25mm female conduit adapter

  1. Fit the flexible conduit to the 25mm male flexi conduit adapter

  1. Fit the rubber adapter to the other end of the flexible conduit

  1. Fit the rubber adapter to the Drain Blast Gun.
